“The White Horse Show Trust”
The White Horse Show Trust, a separate but closely linked organisation, continues to administer the profits of the White Horse Show prudently and with all due diligence, with respect for the efforts and energy expended by The White Horse Show Committee in generating these funds. Details of more recent grants and awards can be found on the website’s Grants and Donations web page. However, since completion of The Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall, an amount of £308,491.56 has been passed to village organisations and charities. The White Horse Show Trust welcomes applications for financial support from all village charities and organisations, for information future White Horse Show Trust meeting dates for 2010 are; 9th April, 9th July and 8th October. It has been said many times that the only qualification necessary to be a member of “The White Horse Show Committee” is to be certifiably mad! After all, how many individuals (several from outside our community) would give so much of their time, talents and energies to an organisation whose only objective is to raise money to give away!! I would add that a good sense of humour is paramount; despite the many problems we encounter year after year we all come back for more! Further, I believe our committee, members and associates, have a very strong community spirit and ALL work tirelessly for the benefit of our COMMUNITY. For a more detailed history of The White Horse Show read the book “The White Horse Show – A Village Charity” written by Brian Tilling a founder member of the Show Committee and retired Trustee.
